A lovely afternoon was spent in Lewes this week with Christmas lunch at Bills, followed by the search for quince cheese at Cheese Please. We need to plant a quince tree at White Lodge and start making our own again - another New Year resolution; plant fruit trees......
The rest of our cheese has already been purchased from our favourite award winning cheese maker High Weald Dairy! They have developed a delicious new sheep milk cheese; Seven Sisters is a Semi-soft sheep milk cheese with a light coating of organic Hebridean seaweed, nature's vitamin capsule, packed with vitamins, essential amino acids, Omega 3, minerals, proteins and fibre!
Good to see our Sales and Marketing experience has not gone to waste from a previous life we @WhiteLodgeBB have named the new cheese 'Seven Sisters' after The Seven Sisters at The Cuckmere Haven. It is a washed curd cheese (made in exactly the same way as Saint Giles (from cow milk) and Sister Sarah (from goat) but using sheep milk. All three cheeses taste very different, despite being made in the same way. It has a delicious caramel flavour, complemented by the natural Hebridean seaweed coating. ITS DELICIOUS!
Beer has been purchased from Harvey's for the Christmas and New Year festivities at White Lodge. Harvey's do look after their fabulous shire horses following their deliveries - they get a 'thank you' with six pints of beer, thirsty work!
Girlie presents bought from Lounge of Lewes, Meera keeps us all fashionable thank you!
The food shopping was I hope all done for Christmas this morning and while we look forward to a few days of entertaining we are also have been preparing for our guests next week who want some peace and quiet after all the Christmas festivities. Plus a good dose of relaxing, enjoying the local pubs; The Blacksmiths Arms and The Five Bells as well as walking locally and The South Downs way
Thank you to all our guests at White Lodge in 2016, it was lovely to welcome back old friends from our first year as a luxury bed and breakfast for Lewes and to meet lots of new interesting people from around the globe. The shortest day of the year has already passed so it's not long now until Easter and then the 2017 Glyndebourne Festival!
