Its mid June and many of our Glyndebourne guests for 2016 have enjoyed a variety of performances and I am glad to say throughly enjoyed their stay at our new B&B just outside Lewes. Its also been a pleasure to have returning guests for the opening weekend of the 2016 Glyndebourne Festival.
Last week we welcomed Paddy and Ann to our home and then are already planning a trip in August and in November for more Glyndebourne treats!
Paddy like many of our guests was very kind in reviewing White Lodge B&B on
Trip Advisor this week as a journalist he is encapsulated what Martin and I have tried to achieve and we are delighted it's working. Our guest reviews have earned us a Trip Advisor Award of Excellence for 2016 something we are immensely proud off.
Here's what Paddy had to say:
“Exceptional quality accommodation, attentive and friendly service. Great food”
This is a three-bedroomed B&B in the Sussex countryside a few miles from Glyndebourne and the town of Lewes. It was set up a couple of years ago by Ann and Martin Janes both of whom had distinguished Business careers and know a bit about customer service. They could not have been more welcoming and helpful duing our stay. The house cats (Marley and Monty) played a less active role but were available on request. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and the ambience is classy modern throughout - a Dyson fan in the bedroom for example. The breakfasts were exceptional and Ann also arranged a delicious lunch of local cheeses for us on one day. An excellent base for Glyndebourne visits (Taxis available as needed.) or for exploring the Sussex countryside. But please keep quiet about it - this must remain a secret between us !

Whilst here they enjoyed Gerald Finley returning to his critically acclaimed role as Hans Sachs in David McVicar’s production of Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, a comedy about art and its place in society. Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg has returned to the Glyndebourne Festival for the first time since 2011. David McVicar’s production is a true landmark in Glyndebourne’s history, fulfilling founder John Christie’s dream to stage the opera here.
Plus the acclaimed Gioachino Rossini Il barbiere di Siviglia…conductor Enrique Mazzola gets Rossini’s music to sizzle. "No slouching, no lingering here and there – just razor-sharp playing from the London Philharmonic Orchestra at helter-skelter speeds.’Richard Fairman" , Financial Times May 23, 2016
