April means the start of the gardening for me and I am looking forward to planning and planting up our new borders. Mark and his team from Organic Matters have been busy landscaping our gardens at White Lodge Bed and Breakfast Lewes. Paul the builder has also been back as I pressure washed everything and therefore the terraces needed re-grouting.........
I love garden events and we have a great one coming up soon in the fabulous surrounding of
Firle Place nr Lewes just 20 minutes from White Lodge B&B. Its on from the 22-24th April 2016, you can enjoy a great day out and in return support their restoration fund at the Garden Show. There will be 150 unique businesses providing an abundance of plants and goodies for your home and garden. Why not make a weekend of it and come stay in our beautiful Woodland room still available that weekend.
Meanwhile out the window of White Lodge many old trees and shrubs have been removed and our borders reshaped or indeed removed to be more in keeping with our 1965 home. Lots more turf to go down in the next few weeks following the installation of our new sewerage treatment plant. We are rural so no mains drains or streetlights so you can see the stars! Rural but only 10 minutes from Lewes our lovely local town or 15 minutes to Brighton.
This weekend the bluebells can be seen plumping up with all the Easter rain and hopefully our guests will enjoy them as they stroll through our woodland in the next month or take in the view from our Woodland luxury room on the first floor.
This weekend the guests at our luxury B&B have been enjoying local produce from Springles organic eggs their farm is on our road as well as the chocolate variety! Our London guests have enjoyed long walks in the beautiful Sussex countryside direct from our door and they loved the quaint town off Lewes with its Castle and independent shops. Today are going to explore Arundel Castle. Others are off to Plumpton Races and then there are grandchildren to amuse with Easter egg hunts and a planned ramble! This Bank Holiday weekend Martin and I actually relaxed on the sun terrace sun loungers on Good Friday when we had glorious blue skies. Roll on summer!
