Luxury Stay in Sussex 2018

At White Lodge B&B this is our forth season running our luxury bed and breakfast near Lewes. It's been a busy year welcoming guests from all round the world for Glyndebourne Opera, the Charleston Literary Festival or walking the South Downs Way. Or enjoying one of the many local National Trust properties such and Sheffield Park and Nymans. Several guests have made the most of their Christmas gifts of trips to the Bluebell Railway or local vineyards, Ridgeview, the Bluebell Vineyard and Bolney Vineyard with a short stay with us to round off the festivities!

Martin and I are proud to have remained the number one Lewes B&B based on our Trip Advisor reviews receiving a 2018 certificate of excellence for the third year running.

Simply outstanding - Ian & Maria September 2018

Ann and Martin were extremely welcoming. White Lodge is very well appointed, spacious, comfortable, relaxing and in a beautiful setting. The breakfasts are excellent, with a wide choice of options; they are freshly prepared and cater for special dietary needs if required. Every aspect of our stay was enjoyable and benefited from the attention to detail displayed by our hosts. We shall certainly be visiting again!

Fabulous contemporary B&B in the lovely Sussex countryside

- Melanie, September 2018

My husband and I spent a couple of nights at White Lodge and, to be quite honest, I am finding it rather hard to find anything wrong with it. Ann and husband Martin are welcoming and friendly and everything about this place is done with sophistication and panache. The rooms are of the highest standard; the bed was very comfortable, excellent bathroom, loads of storage, comfortable chairs. All the fixtures and fittings have been chosen with care and are of the best quality. In the bathroom, good quality amenities are used. No soppy little bottles here or miniature soaps. Nice big pump pots of handwash and body cream and good quality shampoo and conditioner. Big fat fluffy towels. The breakfast is delicious and all made freshly to order. Ann will send you a breakfast menu to choose from in advance as everything is either home made or locally sourced. There is plenty of relaxing space in the shape of a large lounge with comfy chairs, a sun lounge and various outside spaces all furnished for your comfort. You will even find fresh milk and home made cake in your room, together with a selection of teas and coffees for you to choose from. This is a place we will definitely be returning to. There is so much to do in the local area and Ann and Martin will provide you with maps, leaflets, menus and anything you might need to make your stay a memorable one.

What a wonderful experience. Ann and Martin are running what must be one of the best B&B experiences available anywhere! From initial booking, throughout our stay, to final departure - everything was taken care of. The entire house was immaculate and all rooms are decorated to the highest standards of taste and luxury. The home-made brownies on arrival were an un-expexcted treat! Then there was the breakfast.. WOW! All ingredients sourced locally and cooked to perfection, eaten in a gorgeous dining room overlooking the garden. We accepted Ann's offer to book us a table at a nearby pub/restaurant ahead of our stay and were not disappointed by the excellent food (The Cock Inn, Ringmer) A gorgeous place to relax and explore the surrounding areas. Worth every penny and we'll definitely be back!

First Class B&B - David & Sarah, August 2018

A well designed modern B&B, set in a tranquil location. We were made very welcome from the outset where nothing was too much trouble. Ann provided helpful local information about nearby pubs and places to visit. Spacious room with comfortable bed, the breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. A forgotten piece of clothing was kindly returned without delay! We would be more than happy to return.

White Lodge aims for and delivers the very highest quality of guest accommodation

Alison & Mathew, August 2018

We just returned from a wonderful visit to the South Downs, which was made all the better for having chosen White Lodge as our base. It is clear that Ann and Martin have set out to offer accommodation of the very highest quality and they have succeeded. Everything has been considered for a comfortable stay - from the spacious and pristine bathroom, black out blinds to windows, comfortable bed and high quality bed linen and complimentary robes and slippers. Filtered water, fresh milk, premium tea and coffee and delicious home made cake are provided and topped up during your stay. The interior of the property is light, airy and spacious decorated in a contemporary style all of which contributes to a sense of tranquility. Breakfasts are delicious and offer great variety to cater for all tastes. The property is set in peaceful woodland just to the north of Lewes and was ideal base for visiting historic Rye, the Long Man of Wilmington, Cuckmere Haven and the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs from where there are many wonderful walks on the Downs. Charleston Farmhouse, Bodiam Castle, Ightam Mote and Penshurst Place all well worth a visit and added to our understanding of the history of this fascinating part of the UK.
