Last Saturday was the turn of our local village Newick to have its Bonfire Night celebrations in the run up to Bonfire night the 5th November in Lewes our county town.
It was a fantastic night out with a stunning parade led by Newick and supported by lots of local village bonfire societies all getting their eye in for Saturday - there was a fantastic parade first for all the children and then a mix of all ages in the main event processing around town.
We went with a group of friends and we all loved the music by Skull Drummery
and the Glendaurt Pipe band it all added to an amazing atmosphere. Of course our friend Tony the smuggler was processing with South Street Bonfire Society. The procession was huge as Commercial Square Bonfire Society, Firle, Seaford, Rotherfield & Mark Cross, Cliffe, Lindfield, Uckfield, Barcombe, Lewes Borough, Southover, Crowborough, Mayfield, Burgess Hill and East Loathly & Halland Bonfire societies were also in attendance. The there was Waterloo, Chailey, Fletching, Nevill etc etc........
All finished off with amazing fireworks and warming bonfire. Thank you Newick Bonfire Society and its residents for welcoming us all!
Cannot wait till Saturday for more antics! White Lodge bed and breakfast near Lewes will be full of guests going to celebrate Lewes bonfire. They will be looking forward to a quiet retreat at White Lodge after a full day of bangs and crashes followed by a hearty Aga cooked breakfast the next morning! We have guests that have been before and know what to experience and several novices - oh they are in for a treat! You will not see that in London!
